The main scientific objective of SAVNET is monitoring the solar and extra-solar activity on short (sub-seconds to hours) and long (years) time scales. Other objectives include a better understanding of the spatial structure of the South Atlantic Magnetic Anomaly, the study of atmospheric phenomena and the search for genuine seismic–electromagnetic effects.
